Day Trips:
Travelling south from Blaran takes you to Kilmartin Glen which is well
worth a visit with its fascinating ancient
burial cairns and high-class museum which has a charming little cafe.
Continuing along the same road brings you to the Crinan Canal with its fascinating
locks and a busy harbour
A particularly rewarding journey takes you south-west of Oban over the famous
"Bridge over the Atlantic" to the Island of Seil. From there you can take a small
ferry to Easdale Island with its fascinating history of the Scottish Slate industry.
Gateway to the Islands:
Oban is served by ferries to Mull (and from there to Iona), Coll, Tiree, Barra,
South Uist, Colonsay and Islay.
Small ferries starting from various points along the coastline serve the islands
of Kerrera, Lismore and Luing.
