There is beautiful landscape around Blaran which is best explored by foot. The stream running below the house is a fun place to try a spot of fishing. A peaceful stroll along the stream is a relaxing way to observe the rich wildlife with eagles, deer and various other birds living nearby. The road across the stream to Loch Tralaig is a good walk with a pushchair, and there are a number of wild flowers including orchids. At the beginning of the Oude Dam you can park your car half a mile towards Kilmelford and walk for miles along the spectacular forestry road. The garden around Blaran is fully fenced and a number of interesting trees have been planted including a bonsai larch. There are also beautiful rhodedendrons and azaleas. The patio has been enlarged using local slates. It provides a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and the stream for lunch al fresco or evening drinks. If the weather is not good enough to sit out, the views can be enjoyed in three directions from the sitting room/dining room.
